Lönnström Art Museum sr

Foundations purpose is to promote knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts

Lönnström Art Museum sr is a foundation established in 1987 in accordance with the will of honorary councillor Teresia Lönnström (1895–1986). Its purpose is to promote knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts and to support the visual arts in other ways. Since 2015 the Lönnström Art Museum has conducted contemporary art projects in close cooperation with commissioned artists. The foundation also operates the Teresia and Rafael Lönnström Home Museum and manages and augments the foundation’s art collection.

Under the foundation’s bylaws, its board of directors has five to seven members, one of whom is appointed by the Rauma City Council. The term of office of the board is three years.

For its 2021–2023 term, the board consists of CEO Teea Hyytiä as chair, CEO Anne Ignatius-Helander as vice-chair, Dr (Tech.) Sauli Ahvenjärvi as appointee of the City of Rauma, alongside regular members DA Päivi Granö, Director of Education, and CEO Minna Nore. The Foundation’s advocate is LL.M. Riitta Numminen.

The foundation’s name was previously Teresia and Rafael Lönnström Foundation sr.
