Consisting of a property closed off to visitors by a gateless chain link fence, the work is an exploration of time and its impact on nature and the built environment. The artists donated the work to the municipality of P\u00f6yty\u00e4 on 26 October 2016. <em>The House of Khronos<\/em> is located at P\u00f6yt\u00e4suontie 368 (some navigation programs may have 346) and is part of the cultural history trail in P\u00f6yty\u00e4.<\/p>\n<p>The closed off area consists of a former residential building and its plot. The area of the plot is 2003 square metres. Before the fence was put up, historic and landscape surveys of the property were carried out, and the flora and fauna in the area were inventoried and documented. Geological and archaeological surveys were also made. The fenced-off area is left untouched and without any maintenance or upkeep. The buildings are left to decay in peace and the plants to conquer the land. Over the centuries nature will take over the entire area and the building.<\/p>\n<p>The integrity of the property is protected by official permits and agreements. The aim is to create a preserve, a no-man\u2019s land free of human presence. Conservation status for the site was applied for under the Act on the Protection of Built Heritage and the Nature Conservation Act, but both applications were rejected by the Southwest Finland ELY Centre. Based on scientific surveys made of the property, it is an artistic, conceptual and political documentation of the site. The VR representation is a visual modelling of the site, complete with buildings and artefacts, as well as plants and animals. The buildings\u2019 interiors were not documented. There are nine locations in the VR space that you can visit. Each location can be experienced in either spring or summer, day or night, or at an undefined future date in the 2060s. The version with texts provides information about the plants, animals, objects and buildings on the property, The textless version is a more immersive experience. The VR environment is available in Finnish and English. The VR model was produced by IC-98 in collaboration with the Morrow Games studio.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual reality environment can be experienced in the gallery at L\u00f6nnstr\u00f6m Home Museum and in the <em>Luontokapinetti<\/em> environmental information centre in P\u00f6yty\u00e4.
